The East Coast Road (fondly called the ECR) is one of the favorite places to hang out in Chennai, India for all age groups. This place can interest anyone and everyone with the variety of entertainment options it has to offer. In the last couple of decades major developments happened in the ECR and now this 40 odd km stretch, is the fun spot right from multiplexes, resorts, beaches, theme parks, restaurants and what not .. It is around an hour's drive from the city and one of the favorite ways to spend a weekend for most Chennaites. One of the world's heritage site Mahabalipuram, which was home to the Pallava kings is also in this stretch of road. There are many ways by which one could reach here , public transports include bus , metropolitan trains and there are other special bus services started by TamilNadu tourism which shuttles between the various destinations in the East Coast Road and the Chennai city .
