Improving the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch with iPhone OS4

Apple has already moved onto the iPhone OS4, even though iPad apps are the biggest thing to many people right now. This Thursday at Apple Headquarters, iPhone OS4 will be previewed in a “sneak peek” press event. Nothing has been made official et, so don’t let the wild rumours send you out to get a no credit check personal loan to finance your tech addiction.

iPhone, iPad and iPod will all operate on OS4

The announcement of iPhone OS4 will affect more than just the iPhone. Several devices, including the just-barely-released iPad run on the iPhone OS. Apple iPhone OS4 will be the first update to the iPhone / iPad / iPod touch operating system since June of 2009. Nothing is yet known for certain what the iPhone OS4 will include, but it’s certain to have some big changes.

Can OS4 benefit the iPad?

The iPhone OS3 currently runs the newly-released iPad. The iPhone OS also runs iPad apps. Multi-tasking was the most-requested pre-release feature of the iPad. The Apple iPhone OS4 might use Apple’s Expose as a basis for multi-tasking. An update like this would allow multiple iPad apps to run. For example, iPhone OS4 might allow you to have a Twitter iPad app at the same time you’ve got your iPad debt consolidation calculator app open.

When should I expect the iPhone OS4?

Some details of the iPhone OS4 won’t be known until after the announcement event. If the OS3 is any indication, the Apple iPhone OS4 won’t be released for a when. OS3 was previewed in March of 2009, but was not released until June. It is looking like your Apple iDevices won’t be running Apple iPhone OS4 until late June or July of this summer.
