Toyota and Tesla team to top electric car market

Recently, it was announced Toyota would buy a big stake in Tesla Motors, the electric car business. Entirely electric sports cars that can do over 100 miles per hour with ease are what got Tesla their claim to fame. Its flagship model, the Tesla Roadster, is capable of going from 0 to 60 in less than four seconds, which is a considerable feat for any car. The business had seen lagging revenue, and announced an First Public Offering after which Toyota announced it would buy a large stake.

Toyota and Tesla

The Toyota Prius is one of the best selling hybrids on the market, so Toyota already is a leader in hybrid and electric car developments. Toyota pledged to put up $ 50 million after Tesla Motors announced a forthcoming IPO to raise capital after some losses. According to the New York Times, Tesla announced an IPO to raise capital after losing $ 56 million over 2009. The Tesla Roadster takes some large auto car loans to buy, as it lists beginning at $ 109,000.

Tesla Roadster the flagship

The Tesla Roadster, the flagship for Tesla Motors, is the fastest production hybrid or electric car. Their basic model can get from 0 to 60 miles an hour in 3.9 seconds. The Tesla Roadster Sport accomplishes it in 3.7 seconds, but costs about $ 20,000 more. That won’t get Guinness involved, but as far as hybrid or electric cars go it’s a miracle. (Should you wonder, the fastest non-boutique production car from a major domestic manufacturer is the Corvette ZR1.)

A good thing for both

This benefits both Toyota and Tesla. Tesla makes green cars, and soon will mass produce the Tesla Model S, a $ 60,000 fully electric family sedan. Toyota comes to the deal by putting up the Tesla Model S production within the NUMMI manufacturing complex, which was recently closed. A Tesla creates sparks wherever they go.
