Robin Hood Poised To Raid The Box Office

New Robin Hood Set To Pillage The Box Office

The new Robin Hood film, starring Russell Crowe and helmed by Ridley Scott, will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. May 14 is when it could be released in theaters. However, given that it isn't the first take on the legend of Robin Hood, one wonders if it will conquer the box office. In a grand trick of irony, should this Robin Hood gross many payday loans no fax from ticket sales, it will really be taking from the commoners and giving the money to the rich studio heads and actors.

New Robin Hood with slight twist

The Ridley Scott Robin Hood is largely the same. King John and the Sheriff of Nottingham are terrorizing the populace when Robin returns from the Third Crusade and fighting for King Richard the Lionheart. Robin rebels, fights the evil forces of the king, robs the rich and gives to the poor with the help of the Merry Men of Sherwood Forest. It promises to be a rollicking good time, and the new version tries to be a little a lot more faithful to the period than previous versions.

Cannes you do the Can Can?

The Cannes Film Festival could be the pictures’ premiere. Ridley Scott won’t be attending. He recently had knee surgery, according to USA Today, and his recovery isn't progressing as fast as he desired. Thus, the cast may have to walk the red carpet on the French Riviera sans the acclaimed director. This is the fifth film Crowe and Scott have made together.

Sadly, there was never a Robin Hood

The movies are fun, and outlaws that rebel within the name of justice and fairness against evil governments are wonderful stories, but there is no evidence for an actual Robin Hood. None of the famous American outlaws really did anything for the common folk either. Also, King Richard spent little time in England, ruling mostly from France. He also spoke barely a word of English. Furthermore, the actual rebellion against King John was in the interests of the nobles, not actually the commoners. Nevertheless, the result of that rebellion, the Magna Carta, was a step within the right direction.
