Susan Powell Nevertheless Missing, Idaho Remains Not A Match

There were hopes this morning that skeletal remains found in southern Idaho may be those of Susan Powell. However, investigators say that the body was not that of Susan Powell, and also the West Valley, Utah, resident is nevertheless considered a missing person. To keep the search for Susan Powell going since December of 2009, friends and family have chipped in instant cash.

Disappearance of Susan Powell

28 year old mother of two Susan Powell was listed as missing in December 2009. Originally, all four family members were reported missing on Sunday. Susan Powell’s husband and two kids did return to town on Monday afternoon. Josh Powell claims he had taken the two children camping and Susan Powell had been left at home. The missing person’s report was filed when the kids did not show up to daycare. All of Susan Powell’s personal items, including cell phone, were left at her house.

Susan Powell’s husband is a person of interest

The investigating police department named Susan Powell’s husband as a person of interest. The exact same day that Susan Powell disappeared, her husband used instant cash loans to put several hundred miles on a rental automobile. Josh Powell has moved his family to Washington state since Susan Powell disappeared. Josh Powell has not been arrested for Susan Powell’s disappearance, and detectives say only that interviews with him left “more questions than answers”.

Body in Idaho does not match Susan Powell

Over the last weekend, a person looking for better cell phone reception near Ammon, Idaho, stumbled over a badly decomposed body. Because Ammon, just outside of Idaho Falls, is within a day’s drive of West Valley City, detectives contacted those investigating Susan Powell’s disappearance. Investigators in both Idaho and Utah have confirmed that Susan Powell’s body is not the one found in Ammon. Discovering the identity of the body might take several weeks of forensic tests.
