Season 8 of ‘Project Runway’
Lifetime Network is running the eighth season of "Project Runway". Seventeen contestants started out the season, and over 14 episodes they were narrowed down to just one winner. The episode ran an extra half hour, mostly for product placement, in order to replace "Models of the Runway".
'Project Runway’ and its finale
This year, there was a recap within the last episode. That had been how the "Project Runway" finale ended. After the contestants discussed what they had been via and during “Project Runway” season 8, it had been time for the actual “Project Runway” finale runway show. The finale show went really well with hardy any drama like "Project Runway" generally has. Andy was nearly quickly discounted by the judges for his green-and-silver collection. Of course, Gretchen and Mondo were both great, and also the judges couldn't pick a winner. Michael and Nina loved Gretchen's 1970s casual line. They said she "had her finger on the pulse of fashion" with it. If you were to ask host Heidi Klum and guest judge Jessica Simpson, Mondo should win. This was because his style and creativity was so good. Gretchen ended up winning since the two against one vote always wins with judges.
'Project Runway’ going in an interesting direction
Since the season 6 move to Lifetime, “Project Runway” finale shows seem to have gotten increasingly more predictable. When the show had been on Bravo TV, it appeared the judges were making decisions based on the actual clothes in front of them. The “Project Runway” season 8, finale, like Season 7 and Season 6, seemed to be about something else. Season 8 had many people getting eliminated that had great talent. Because they weren't "good for TV" personalities, this happened. Product placement has also gotten much more blatant, with the extra half-hour dedicated practically exclusively to products. Season 8 of "Project Runway" showed one thing to everyone watching. It isn't about the clothes anymore. If Gretchen’s winning “rewind” designs are where fashion is going, we have yet to see it within the actual fashion on the street.
