What s up with greyhounds and vampires?

Although vampires are widely believed to be mythological or folkloric beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence of living (or at least undead) creatures, a vampire from Florida who wants to run for president has been riding a Greyhound bus.

With just a small personal cash loan, just about anyone can ride a Greyhound bus. Not just anyone, however, can drive one. Unrelated to the Florida vampire incident, former Greyhound bus driver Bob Straight of San Jose, California, will turn 100 next week. True to form, Bob Straight isn't just anyone. The soon-to-be centenarian is also a former wing walker, radio singer, vaudevillian, bottled-water salesman and strawberry farmer.

At the risk of giving Jonathan Sharkey another dose of the attention he craves, the 45-year-old Florida resident says he wants to move to Washington, D.C., and run on the GOP ticket in 2012. More to the point, the vampire, who claims to be a direct descendant of Dracula, spent Friday on a Greyhound bus with his new fiancée, a 19-year-old girl from Ohio, who also believes she's a vampire.
