Fourteen seasons ago, we were introduced to some foul-mouthed elementary school kids in South Park, Colorado. Since those initial videos that were some of the first viral internet hits, South Park has become an empire of mature humor for Comedy Central. Tonight at 10 p.m. central time, as the premier of season 14, South Park is going to take on the Tiger Woods scandal, complete with appearances from other "famous sex addicts." While the exact storyline is carefully guarded, I wouldn't be surprised if South Park featured celebrities taking out no credit check payday loans to visit prostitutes, and that will probably be just the first five minutes.
The controversy of South Park
South Park is known for its rough-around-the edges approach. While there is very heavy satire and social commentary in the scripts, it is usually approached with an excess of profanity and toilet humor. This approach has had the dual result of making the show very popular and very controversial.
South Park's willingness to lampoon just about any topic adds to the controversy. Comedy Central itself has only censored one South Park episode, though every show carries a heavy "for mature audiences only" rating, and a late-night time slot intended to help ensure the young ones are in bed.
