On "American Idol" last night, the eight remaining female contestants performed. The one-hour episode -- which seemed to go by at lightning speed after the two-hour Tuesdays I'd grown used to -- was filled with the usual mixture of compliments and criticism. Here's a little capsule to cure "American Idol" information deficiency. We'll have to wait to find out who needs emergency cash loans for a plane ticket home.
American Idol: Who is next?
When it comes to "American Idol," what do you want first, the good news or the bad news? Last night, Simon was always the last judge to weigh in on the contestants' performances. Thus, if there was good news and bad news, the bad news was usually last. But I think I'll flip that formula and start out with who might be facing the "American Idol" chopping block Thursday. Much like when you're waiting to see if you're approved for emergency cash loans, it's best to know as soon as possible if there is bad news so you can get on with your life.
First up, Katie Stevens sang "Break Away" by Kelly Clarkson, and none of the judges were impressed. I would not be surprised if she ends up getting booted Thursday. The other frontrunner for the position of loser next week is Paige Miles, as Simon plainly told her. After a weak, low-energy, gloomy performance of "Smile," Simon said "I think this might be the end of the line."
