It is close to that time of year to remember the Earth for a day – yes, it’s Earth Day on April 22. Earth Day 2010, and any Earth Day really, is a good time to be mindful of being better custodians of the environment. Our children have to inherit exactly what we leave, so do not make your legacy soda cans. There are also some good Earth Day Activities for Kids, if you want to consist of the little ones. There are numerous Earth Day deeds that won’t send you sprinting for debt relief.
Earth Day started April 22, 1970
Earth Day was a teach in, the first time. Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson announced the idea at several rallies in fall of 1969. He put the idea forward for a nationwide grassroots effort for better environmental practices, and thanks to great media coverage, it picked up an incredible amount of steam. On April 22, 1970, colleges and universities had environmental demonstrations and protests, along with many other organizations. Over 20 million people participated, and Earth Day and Earth Week were born. It expanded from there, and now Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 in many countries worldwide.
So what to do??|What can I do}?}
There are plenty of activities that will properly commemorate Earth Day 2010. Take grass clippings, leaves and so forth, and start a compost pile. You are able to plant a tree – they spruce (pun intended) up a yard and add property value. (The Arbor Day Foundation has a lot more info on that.) Try some recycling. Depending on the policies with your area, you may be able to get some cash now for certain materials, such as aluminum.One couple made national headlines for their project Wedding Cans, paying for their wedding by recycling cans.
The EPA expands on Earth Day
The Environmental Protection Agency website has some things for Earth Day. They have a section called Pick 5 for the Environment, and conservation tips for air, power, water, waste, and activism. The EPA website has some good tips for that.
