Pop Tart Store- Building your own Pop-Tarts

In Times Square, the Pop Tart shop, called Pop-Tarts World, opened up to massive fanfare. The shop depending on the pastry offers Pop-Tarts inspired cuisine and Pop-Tarts vending machines. At $ 1,000 per square foot, Times Square rent is a massive investment for the company, which hasn’t yet determined whether the Pop-Tart shop is going to be a permanent fixture.

What is inside the Pop-Tarts store

There is a little bit of anything offered up at the Pop-Tarts World. The cafe at Pop-Tarts World serves up Pop-Tarts sandwiches, Pop-Tarts-covered celery, even Pop-Tarts topped cinnamon rolls. A vending machine lets you create your own 12 pack of Pop-Tarts flavors, for $ 1 per pastry. You can also build your own Pop-Tart, including just about any topping or flavor you can think of.

Pop Tart store for brand visibility

Kellogg’s said the Pop-Tarts Shop got opened up because they wanted to show that Pop-Tarts is a “mature brand”. The breakfast bar pastry has seen relatively flat sales for the last few years. Pop-Tarts sold $ 481 million worth of the pastries in 2009.

Making your own Pop-Tarts

Customized Pop-Tarts are accessible outside of Times Square. Making your own Pop-Tarts is not only easy, but it can be healthier and less costly. You are able to stay away from the high fructose corn syrup and make your own for about 20 cents per Pop-Tart. In a food processor or bowl, combine 2 cups of flour with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. Mix in 1 cup butter, 1 egg, and 2 tablespoons milk. Roll out the dough and cut it in Pop-Tart sized rectangles. Spread just about any filling you want on half of the rectangles. Use the un-spread half of the rectangles to top the filling, then seal it by pressing the edges with a fork. Refrigerate the dough when you pre-heat the oven to 350, and then bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
