Most new vehicle buyers considering a Ford first

Most new vehicle buyers thinking about a Ford first

The United States’ biggest source for auto purchasing info, Kelly Blue Book, has released their quarterly survey on the preferences of new automobile buyers. The study is considered authoritative, though it is not done scientifically. The top five list shows both a shakeup in the popularity of vehicles and also the effects of negative press. The top five factors that auto buyers are considering are driving comfort, reliability, driving performance, safety, and efficiency in their new vehicle.

Ford takes top honors

During this quarter last year, Toyota held the top spot in this survey. This year, though, the Kelly Blue Book quarterly survey says that a full 29 percent of buyers who want a new vehicle are considering a Ford. This matches up well with the estimation that truck sales can be increasing within the next one to two years.

Number 2 spot – Toyota

Safety issues have caused Toyota to take on various recalls in the last year. 22 percent of people looking at purchasing a new vehicle are still considering a Toyota, even though those safety difficulties are well-known. High fuel efficiency is, in part, the reason for this very strong showing. The particularly successful “Swagger Wagon” advertising campaign is also cited as a reason Toyota had such a strong showing.

Third – Chevrolet

21 percent of new-car buyers are thinking about a Chevrolet for their new vehicle. This increase in interest in Chevrolet could possibly be partially because of the Volt, although there is a very high price tag. Chevrolet’s reputation for safety is listed as the number one reason this brand made it to the top five list.

Fourth – Honda

With dual reputation of reliability and fuel savings, Honda is doing very well on the list. One-fifth of people looking at purchasing a new vehicle say they are thinking about a Honda automobile.

Fifth – Hyundai

Nissan used to be a reliable player in the top five list, but South Korea brand Hyundai has ousted it. Well-known fuel sippers, Hyundai vehicles are being considered by 13 percent of vehicle buyers.
