According to KENS 5 San Antonio, previous Major League pitcher and Dallas sports talk-show host and producer Mike Bacsik, Jr., has been fired by KTCK (The Ticket 1310) for racist comments he made on his personal Twitter account . Bacsik (BASS-ik, pronounced like the fish) was suspended by the station the day before and apologies were released by Bacsik and the station, but KTCK decided to finalize the separation. As outlined by the Dallas Morning News, Mike Bacsik made the following tweet at San Antonio Spurs fans after a recent NBA Playoffs victory by the Dallas Mavericks over the Spurs: “Congrats to all the dirty Mexicans in San Antonio.” Now he will probably need paydayloans.
Mike Bacsik (aka ‘Chew-Bacsik’) is just another Twitter casualty.
Athletes and other entertainers just like Mike Bacsik seem to have a hard time determining either what is socially appropriate to broadcast across the web or how Twitter works. If it isn’t a person posting nude pictures or betraying signs of emotional disorder, it’s another public figure like Mike Bacsik – dubbed “Chew-Bacsik” by KTCK staff, because of a mild speech impediment – spouting off racist smack. People evidently don't understand the internet doesn't just exist in our own lives but is a very public thing, including twitter. That appears to be the reason why organizations such as Major League Baseball istaking it upon themselves to play “Big Brother” when it comes to how their employees use Twitter . Just a small amount of instruction saves many embarrassment which makes it seem like the MLB's policy isn't a bad thing.
Apparently Mike Bacsik doesn’t have a problem with black people
On Aug. 7, 2007, Mike Bacsik surrendered Barry Bonds’ 756th home run, which broke the 33-year-old record for career home runs held by Hall of Famer Henry “Hammerin’ Hank” Aaron. Not only did Bacsik tip his cap to Bonds as a show of respect, but he went to the San Francisco Giants’ clubhouse after the game to shake hands with Barry. An interesting side note is that Mike Bacsik Sr. (Bacsik’s father) pitched in the Major Leagues also, and on August 23, 1976, he faced Hank Aaron at the plate. At the time, Aaron had 755 career home runs. So both Mike Bacsik Jr. and Sr. could have surrendered number 756. It might have even been worth instant cash loans on memorabilia circuit to both of them.
