90,000 pounds of chicken nuggets recalled by Wal-Mart

90,000 pounds of chicken nuggets recalled by Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart stores have recalled a huge number of Great Value brand chicken nuggets. One pound, 13 ounce packages of Great Value chicken nuggets have been recalled. Manufactured by Perdue, these nuggets have blue plastic in them.

Stores recall chicken nuggets

The Wal-Mart chicken nugget recall was called by Perdue Farms, Inc. and the USDA on July 21. The packages of chicken nuggets were found to have blue plastic within the meat. The chicken nuggets integrated in the recall are identified by:

  • Bags that weigh in at one pound, 13 ounces
  • Labeled as a fantastic Value brand
  • P-33944 as the Establishment Number
  • Identified with case code 89008 A0160

Return the nuggets to the store where they were purchased in order to get a refund. The companies will end up paying the whole cost of the recall — estimated at $ 500,000.

Recall caused by blue plastic in the nugget

The recall on Wal-Mart chicken nuggets is considered a class II recall. The translation of this is that you will find no “adverse health consequences” and no injuries. Perdue Farms has said that it expects that a “small plastic ring” was mixed in with the raw meat.

Making your own chicken nuggets

If you really love chicken nuggets but want to keep away from the Wal-Mart chicken nugget recall, you are able to. Making your own chicken nuggets is quick, cheap, and healthy. Chicken nuggets made at home cost less than $ 1 per serving. Start by chopping boneless, skinless chicken breasts or chicken tenders into chunks. Mix together bread crumbs and seasonings, or even use a product like Shake ‘n Bake. Coat the chicken with crumbs after you dunk it in milk or butter. Bake them on a well-oiled sheet for 10 or 20 minutes. Or, if you’re brave, deep-fat fry in 450 degree oil for three minutes.
